There's never a bad times to "go green" - even if it's one of your busiest times of the year.
The operators of General RV Center, located in Brownstown since 1977, are updating the lighting systems to reduce energy use and save money.
"Basically, every light fixture in the building is being upgraded," said General Manager Frank Krawczyk. "We're going from T12s to T8s, which will give us the same lighting at a fraction of the power consumption."
Krawczyk has been turning the lights on and off in the General RV family since 1975, when it was known as General Trailer.
Krawczyk started sweeping floors, worked in the service department, became a manager and now runs the 18-acre operation at 17277 Racho Road at I75 in north Brownstown. In fact, he ran the original General RV in Brownstown when it was located at Telegraph and Van Horn.
